George A. Petrasko, 98, of Willowick passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Preserve Senior Living at Mentor Ridge in Mentor.
He was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Cambridge, Ohio and had been a resident of Lake County for 58 years.
George was a proud Veteran of the US Army having served in WWII in the Tank Division.
George was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Willowick and enjoyed golf, bowling, gardening, casinos and puzzles.
George was the loving father of David A. (Karen) Petrasko, Kathleen A. (Greg) Sternberg, Joseph G. (Margaret) Petrasko, and Anne M. (Miguel) Capetillo; cherished grandfather of Jason Petrasko, Justin (Caroline) Sternberg, Lauren Petrasko, Matthew Petrasko, Marissa (Kyle) Mack, Jeremy (Julia) Capetillo, Danielle (Bryan) Rosine, Abby (Michael) Putnam, Gwen Petrasko and Chelsea Petrasko; great-grandfather of Aaden and Mason Sternberg, Ethan (in Heaven), Emilia and Noah Mack, Cora, Helen, Lydia, and Eve Capetillo, Kayla, Hannah, and Justin Rosine; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 75 years Mildred A. Petrasko (nee Slifko), beloved son Robert D. Petrasko (Mary), sisters, Ann Maceyko (Michael, deceased), Sophie Maslanka (Anthony, deceased) brothers Joe Petrasko, Steve Petrasko (Josephine, deceased).
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 11 at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home (6330 Center Street (RT 615, North of RT.2). Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick. Fr. Steve Breck will officiate. Burial will follow mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
