Gerald W. Bauer, formerly of Caro, age 83, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025 under memory and hospice care in Rochester Hills. Gerald was born December 11, 1941 in Flint, the son of the late William H. and Bernadette M. (Cote) Bauer. He was a proud graduate of Holy Redeemer Catholic High School. On June 11, 1966, Gerald married Barbara J. Press, and they shared a loving marriage until her passing on July 18, 2013. Gerald served honorably in the Michigan National Guard during his younger years. He spent his career at General Motors, retiring after holding various positions throughout the years. In 1976, Gerald and Barbara built a home in Caro, where he enjoyed the beautiful trees, flowers, and vegetables his wife lovingly cultivated around their yard. Gerald was an avid enthusiast of antique cars, often visiting local car shows, reading car magazines, and immersing himself in history programs during his later years.
Gerald is survived by two daughters, Terry Stoveken and Tina (Rick) Enos; and three grandchildren, Douglas Bauer, Cole Stoveken, and Ericca Bauer. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Bauer; and a sister, Beverly Woodhull.
No services are planned at this time. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family, c/o Terry Stoveken, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
