Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brater-Winter Funeral Home (Harrison) on Nov. 5, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald H. Branditz, a beloved father, grandfather, and pillar of his community, who passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on September 15, 1941, to Howard and Lorraine (nee Fuhrman) Branditz in
Cincinnati, Ohio, Gerald's life was a reflection of his deep love for his family, his country, and his community.
Gerald graduated from Colerain High School and, shortly after, enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served for two years and was honored to do so. The lessons of duty and service that he learned during his time in the military stayed with him throughout his life, shaping him into the man many came to know and admire.
After his service, Gerry dedicated an impressive 33 years to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department. His career in law enforcement was marked by his dedication, respect for others, and his genuine desire to make a difference. Gerry's love for mentoring the next generation was evident in his work with the Explorer Program, where he guided countless young people, showing them the values of leadership and responsibility. Beyond his work in law enforcement, Gerry was a devoted coach to his sons-Kevin, David, and Jonathan-helping them grow as athletes and as individuals. His love for baseball went far beyond his family, and he spent nine years as President of Harrison Junior Baseball, working to expand the local baseball park and strengthen the community. His connection to the game even led him to work security at Cincinnati Reds games, something he took great pride in.
Gerry's commitment to others extended far beyond his professional life. He was a member of the AM Vets Post 13, American Legion Post 199, F.O.P Lodge 84, and Snow Lodge #193 F&AM. Gerry also served on the Harrison Zoning Committee and the Civil Service Committee, working to ensure the voices of those in the community were heard. Gerald was incredibly proud to serve not only his country, but his community as well.
Those left to cherish Gerry's memory are his children: Kevin (Dotty) Brandtiz, David (Anne) Branditz, and Jonathan (Melony) Branditz; his grandchildren: Austin Branditz, Alex (Deborah) Branditz, Ayden Branditz, Ty (Sadie) Branditz, and Emma Branditz; his great grandson: Spencer Branditz; and his sister: Esther (Steve) Johnson.
Gerrry is preceded in death by his parents: Howard and Lorraine Branditz.
