Crandell, Gerald Edgar of Flushing, age 94, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Stonegate Health Campus. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Rossell Funeral Home - no need to dress up, come wearing your favorite Lions or Tigers gear. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Flushing United Methodist Church, with visitation prior at 10 a.m. and a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Flushing United Methodist Church or McLaren Hospice.
Gerald was born in Flint, Michigan on July 16, 1931, the son of Ellis Marshall and Ida Janet (Berry) Crandell. He married Mildred Fuller on September 22, 1951, at the Lincoln Park Methodist Church. They were married for 65 wonderful years when she preceded him in death on April 26, 2017. Gerald proudly served in the Army National Guard and worked for General Motors as a Tool and Die Maker. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed watching sports (especially the Tigers, Lions, University of Michigan and Michigan State), playing cards, joking around, eating ice cream, traveling and participating in several Crim races. He was a loving father and grandfather. For 20 years, he was a member of Shady Oaks Homeowners Association in Zephyrhills, FL. He was a member of Flushing S.A.L.T, the Road Runners Square Dance Club and Flushing United Methodist Church.
Gerald is survived by his three daughters, Debra Arnold, Sandra Mohr and Janet Crandell; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Barbara Bowman; and sister-in-law, Rita Crandell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; son, James; five brothers; and his parents. The family would like to recognize with love and gratitude Lori Reames along with her children and grandchildren as his chosen family who cared for him in his final years. A special thanks to all the caregivers at both McLaren Hospice and Stonegate Health Campus.
