Gerald "Jerry" Crispell

Crispell, Gerald "Jerry" Joseph- of Birch Run, age 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 25, 2023, at his residence surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run from 4PM until 8PM, with a time of sharing from 7PM until 8PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Birch Run United Methodist Church.
Jerry was born January 3, 1934, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Howard and Mary (Himmelein) Crispell. While young of age, the family moved to Mio, Michigan. Jerry and his brother Paul learned the skills of cutting pulpwood, mink ranching and trapping. Eventually his family returned to Saginaw County, purchasing a farm. Jerry attended Birch Run Schools and graduated from Birch Run High School with the class of 1952. Also, in 1952 Jerry began his career with GM at Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring in 1987. He married his high school love Janette Ferguson, they raised 4 children and shared 68 wonderful years together.
With great pride, Jerry, friends, and family built a family home in Birch Run and a cabin on Sand Lake. With neighbors Scherba's, Lyon's amongst others Jerry and Janette enjoyed many years at their cabin on the lake. Memories were made for generations to come. Jerry's hobbies included carpentry, deer hunting, snowmobiling, water skiing, horseshoes, playing cards and evening rides with Janette. Jerry was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends. He was so much to so many and will be deeply missed.
Surviving are: Son/Best Friend, Dennis Crispell; Proud daughters: Jeri Lynn Crispell, Sherry (Steve) Charland, Marianne Kinder; Grandchildren: Heather Martin, Jason (Marianne) Crispell, Brandon (Julie) Charland, Bridget (Bryan) Vawter, Tayler Hill, Emilie Kinder, Evan Kinder: Great Grandchildren: Ashley Martin, Aden Crispell, Nicholas Crispell, Keith Charland, Evelyn Charland, Hailey Vawter, Jaycob Hill, Hannah Hill; Sister-In-Laws: Carol Ferguson, Doris (Bob) McKee, Ruby (Dave) Fox Aggie Morse. Several very special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Janette; Brother and Sister-in-law, Paul (Betty Lou) Crispell; Brother-In-Law, Jerry Ferguson. Special friend Jerome Magnus. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Davita and Heartland Hospice.
