Mr. Gerald Harold Monzel, age 86, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at his residence.
Born on October 25, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, Gerald was the son of the late Harold Monzel and the late Julia Rzeszutko Monzel. He married the love of his life and best friend Ruth Mary Helfert and together they celebrated sixty-five years of marriage. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed watching sports, playing golf and fishing. Spending time with his family brought him immense joy and happiness. He will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife. he is survived by his sons, Mark Monzel (Daniel Dutko), Guy (Kristen) Monzel, daughters, April (Wilson) Rogers, Dawn (Victor) Bilak, Kim (Joe) Domabyl, grandchildren, Kylie Austin, Taylor Austin, Brandon Monzel, Joshua Monzel, Marie (Jacob) Engler, Jill Domabyl, and Justin Rogers, great grandchildren, Olive Engler, Max Engler, Maisie Engler, Riley Regalado, Angelo Rogers, and Gryffin Rogers.
