Decatur ~ Geraldine Louise Amonett, 81, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Louis Horton will officiate. Pallbearers include William Brooks, Alex Lara, Crindon Cryer, Kaylen Cryer, William Cryer, and Nate Mara. Honorary Pallbearers include Craig Shaw, Ernie Flores, and Dale Watts.
Geraldine was born March 14, 1942 to Clarence William and Virgil Mae (Waters) Berg in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage December 17, 1960 to Walter Crindon Amonett in Decatur, Texas; married for 58 years before his passing in 2018. Geraldine was retired from the Decatur Independent School District after 25 years as Cafeteria Manager. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many who will dearly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Virgil Mae Berg; her husband, Walter Amonett; and a brother, Allen Berg.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Nacina Amonett of Decatur, Lorenda Hornsby and husband Russ of Chico, and Roxanna Shivers and husband Mike of Krum; her son, Nelson Amonett of Alabama; grandchildren, Nate, Brooke, Matthew, Kaylen, Crindon, Lindsey, Ailey, William, Cydnee, Bailey, Dusti, and Kaitlyn; 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Wayne Berg; a sister, Lois Berg; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
