Geraldine F. Skenandore, age 63, of Keshena, started her journey to the Spirit
World early Monday morning, June 24, 2024, at her home.
Geraldine was born September 19, 1960, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late
Joseph and Frances (Lawe) Lafernier. Geraldine attended the Milwaukee
Community School. Following high school, she was united in marriage to David
Skenandore on March 6, 1982, in Milwaukee. The couple relocated to the
Menominee Indian Reservation in 1986. Geraldine was employed at the
Menominee Casino for many years. Her husband David preceded her in death in
2013.
Geraldine enjoyed traditional native arts, landscaping, crafts, and an occasional trip
to the casino. Above all, she loved to be with her children and grandkids.
Survivors include her children, VaNessa Lawe of Wautoma, Frances Lawe of
Keshena, Becky (Pifer Escalante) Lawe of Shawano, and Karrie (Bernard Webster)
Skenandore of Keshena; grandchildren, Ashley, Jordan, Cierra, Kyle, Nashayla,
Hayden, Makayla, Emalee, Kay-yariah, and Zoey; eight great-grandchildren; three
sisters, Rogerine (Gerhardt) Wychesit of Keshena, April (Allen) Dodge of Middle
Village, and Dawn Lawe of Keshena; special friend, Brian White; and special
nieces and nephews, Leah, Tammy, Candace, Bernadine, ReAnne, Naomi,
Addrienne, Lacey Lee, Dennis, Peter, Christian, Patrick, and Daniel May. She is
further survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Geraldine was preceded
in death by her parents; husband; two children, Lindsey Skenandore and Robert
Joseph "Little Eagle" Lawe; and three sisters, Leah Sanchez, Edwina
Waubanascum, and Sandra Lee Peters.
A celebration of life for Geraldine Skenandore will be held Monday, July 8, 2024,
at 4:00 pm at the Lawe Residence, N1523 Highway 55, Keshena. Relatives and
friends may call at the house at the time of service on Monday.
