Germaine Schmitt, 75, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, at 8:45 p.m. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Born on March 30, 1950, Germaine attended the Michigan School for the Deaf, where she was part of the community for much of her life. Her faith was the foundation of everything she did and she joyfully served as a lead song leader for many years at her Capitol City Baptist Church and School in Holt, Michigan.
She touched countless lives with her kindness, steady spirit, and unwavering devotion to the Lord.
As her family lovingly shares.
"She has graduated from her time serving the Lord here on Earth. She's now joined our family in Heaven, in a new body- no more deafness, no more pain, no more suffering. She's in joy and glory now."
Germaine will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of faith and love will live on in our hearts.
The Funeral Service will be on Monday, August 18, 2025 in the deaf chapel at the Capital City Baptist Church located at 5100 W Willoughby Rd, Holt, MI 48842. The funeral service for Germaine will begin at 12:00pm, with the visitation beginning one hour prior, starting at 11:00am. A graveside service will immediately follow services, at East Lawn Memory Gardens located at 2400 Bennett Rd, Meridian Charter Township, MI 48864, where Germaine will be laid to rest. There will be a luncheon following the graveside service back at the Capital City Baptist Church.
