Mary Margaret Appelgreen

Mary Margaret Appelgreen, 78, was called home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2025. She lived a life anchored in Scripture, guided by love, and marked by unwavering faith.
Mary was born in Lansing on September 17, 1947 to Edward and Margaret Laboda. She graduated from Eastern High School and met her husband, Richard, while "cruising the strip" on the north end. They recently celebrated 57 years of marriage on September 21. While Mary enjoyed working at the State of Michigan and volunteering, she most treasured the time spent with family and friends. She kept a notebook detailing the highlights of each vacation and enjoyed watching the seasons change at their cottage. In recent years, Mary became quite the bingo enthusiast and rarely turned down a chance to play.
Mary found joy in studying the Bible, sharing the Gospel, and praying for people even while seriously ill herself. She was a walking miracle, bravely facing many health issues armed with tenacity and her faith in the Word of God. One of her greatest desires was that each family member would know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Mary was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, and leaves a legacy of faith, kindness, and compassion. She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Appelgreen; daughter, Christine (Eric) Wustman; sister, Judy (Jim) Mulvaney; brother-in-law, Bob (Jan) Appelgreen; sister-in-law, Sandy (Alan) White; and several nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Dr. Carol Rapson who cared for Mary since 2010. We would also like to thank the staff at Story Point of Grand Ledge and CorsoCare Hospice.
The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 16 at 12:00 PM at Palmer, Bush, & Jensen Funeral Home, Delta Chapel, 6301 West Saint Joseph Highway, Lansing. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM. The Visitation will be held at Palmer, Bush, & Jensen Funeral Hope, Delta Chapel, on Wednesday October 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Interment will follow the Funeral Service at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to City Rescue Mission of Lansing or a charity of your choice.
Mary now rests in the arms of the Savior, free from pain and sorrow, rejoicing in the presence of her Almighty Father.
