Gerry Beth Buckel, a cherished soul known for her loving nature, adventurous spirit, and lively character, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, in Marlette, Michigan, at the age of 65. Born on February 17, 1959, in Caro, Michigan, Gerry's early years were spent in the warm embrace of her family and the close-knit community that would shape her generous spirit.
Gerry's life was a testament to the love she shared with her devoted husband, Chuck, and their four sons, George (Tiffany), Harry, Raymond, and Charlie. Her joy was multiplied with the arrival of each grandchild: Jordan, Rylee, Jaxson, Nevaeh, and Ashton. She was a sister, not only by blood to Sue (Joe), Pat, and Joe (Carla), but also in spirit to many. Her extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins held a special place in her heart, each one touched by her kindness and warmth.
Though she was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Dorothy (Meier) Farnum, her stepfather, Floyd Gillespie, and her siblings, Larry and Rick Farnum, and sister Bea Randall, Gerry's legacy of love and laughter lives on through the lives of those she touched.
Gerry's passion for life was evident in her work as the owner of Your Hometown Photography page, where she captured the beauty of everyday moments and the milestones of those around her. Her involvement in various photography groups allowed her to share her talent and to continue learning and growing in her craft.
Her interests were as varied as they were numerous. Gerry found joy in the simplicity of crocheting and crafting, creating treasures that would become keepsakes for her loved ones. Birdwatching brought her closer to nature's wonders, while traveling and thrifting satisfied her adventurous soul. The roar of her beloved '67 Mustang was music to her ears, a symbol of her spirited approach to life.
Above all, Gerry cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Each moment was an opportunity to demonstrate her love, whether through a shared meal, a hearty laugh, or a quiet afternoon spent together. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she reveled in their accomplishments and adventures.
Gerry's faith was nurtured in her youth at the Watrousville Methodist Church, grounding her in a community of faith that would guide her throughout her life. Her spiritual foundation was a source of comfort and strength, and she lived her beliefs through acts of kindness and compassion.
Gerry Beth Buckel's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share, the laughter we remember, and the love we continue to pass on. Her spirit, now free, leaves behind a legacy of joy and an invitation to all who knew her to live each day with purpose and passion.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at later date. Memorial contributions in honor of Gerry can be made to the United Hospice Residence in Marlette.
