A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Lemoine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church with Rev. Martin Laird officiating. Burial will follow in the Mater Dolorosa Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.
Mr. Lemoine, age 79 of Plaucheville, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at his residence.
Paul was born and raised in Plaucheville and was a lifelong member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army and came home to farm for most of his life. He also was a cattleman and belonged to the Louisiana Cattleman's Association. Paul enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Gibbon Paul, Sr. and Grace Plauche Lemoine; a brother, Darrell Lemoine; a sister, Barbara Saucier; grandson, Joshua Paul Lemoine; a great-granddaughter, Mollie Jaymes Hanks.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marion "Sue" Distefano Lemoine of Plaucheville; his children, Shannon Joseph Lemoine (Gretchen) of Lafayette, Jason Paul Lemoine, Sr. (Christy) of Plaucheville, Dean Joseph Lemoine (Fran) of Natchitoches, Sheila L. Aymond (Keith) of Plaucheville and Luke Michael Lemoine (Pamela Jo) of Plaucheville; siblings, Rachel Saucier of Franklin, Dorothea "Dot" Gaillard of Plaucheville, Vera Mae Garafola of Hammond and Johnny Lemoine (Inez) of Plaucheville; his grandchildren, Hunter Lemoine, Christopher Lemoine Ireland Sloane, Kennedy Sloane, Jason Lemoine, Jr., Brooke Lemoine, Grace Lemoine, Patrick Lemoine, Nicholas Aymond, Benjamin Aymond, Roxanne Lloyd, Henry Lloyd and Joseph Lemoine.
Pallbearers will include: Hunter Lemoine, Christopher Lemoine, Jason Lemoine, Jr., Nicholas Aymond, Benjamin Aymond, Patrick Lemoine and Micah Simpson.
Friends may visit on Monday from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
