Gilbert Mason Connolly

Gilbert Mason Connolly, 91, of Hampstead, Maryland peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones, on October 25, 2025 at Brightview Westminster Ridge.
Born on April 23, 1934 in Bare Hill, Maryland, Gil was the son of the late Elwood and Catherine (O'Connell) Connolly. He is also preceded in death by siblings, Bud Connolly, Libby Myers, and Frances Bond.
Gil grew up in Baltimore and later resided in Hampstead with his wife Nancy. Gil was a veteran of the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Hood and Killeen Base in Texas, where he served as Military Police. He then worked for many years at Commercial Credit in Baltimore, during which time he met and married his beloved wife Nancy.
A devoted member of Church of the Open Door in Westminster, Maryland, Gil enjoyed serving behind the scenes in various ministries, including operating the church video cameras and preparing delicious meals for visitation suppers.
Carroll Christian Schools held a special place in his heart. Baking weekly cakes for the teachers and grilling burgers at the School's sports concession stand are just a few of the ways he showed his love.
Gil also loved sports, playing baseball in his youth and golf later in life. He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Colts and the Orioles.
Gil is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Connolly with whom he was married for sixty-one years; nephews, Michael Bond (Cathy), Steven Bond (Beth), Bobby Myers, Wayne Myers; niece, Nancy Rader; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Brenda Fields, Jorai (Bob) Dayhoff, and multiple Dayhoff grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 11:00 am. to 12:00 pm. at Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd, Westminster, Maryland. A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm., with Dr. Norris Belcher, Jr. officiating.
A graveside service will take place at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 E Padonia Rd, Timonium, Maryland 21093.
