Glen Alan Hardisty, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the age of 75. He leaves a legacy of love, strength, and family that will carry on through generations.
Glen was born on Christmas Day, 1949, in Fort Wayne, IN, to Stanley and Marilyn Hardisty. His childhood years were spent in Fort Wayne, where he graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1968. After graduation, Glen felt a sense of duty, which eventually led him to serve his country in the National Guard. Recognized later as a skilled sharpshooter, he was a member until his honorable discharge in 1976. This sense of responsibility and commitment shaped the way he lived his life and raised his family.
On June 29, 1974, Glen married the love of his life, the former Judi Huddleston. Together, they raised four boys, whom they surrounded with love and discipline, always teaching them to do the right thing. In 1988, Glen and Judi moved their family to
South Bend, IN - a place they would call home for the rest of their lives and lay down roots for their family.
More than just a father, he was a teacher, especially when it came to construction, a skill he passed down with care and pride. Whether working side by side or building something together at home, he taught his sons not only how to use their hands but also how to take pride in what they built, both in their work and life. One of his proudest accomplishments was building the family's home with his boys. Working side by side, they built something lasting together. His guidance left a lasting impact - three of his sons went on to build successful careers in the construction industry, a tribute to the knowledge and work ethic he passed down.
For the last 20 years of his life, nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was cheering them on at their sporting events. No matter the weather or the score, he was always there - on the sidelines with a smile, full of pride and encouragement. It was his favorite place to be.
He is survived by his wife, Judi, whom he has been married to for nearly 51 years, his sons, Eric (Tonya) Hardisty of
South Bend, IN, Adam (Leanne) Hardisty of Westfield, IN, Dustin Hardisty of Fort Wayne, IN, and Nicholas Hardisty of Indianapolis, IN. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren, Holden, Olivia, Tate, Kipton, Krew, Isabella, Jase, August, and Blake. He is reunited with his parents, Stanley and Marilyn Hardisty, and sister, Sue (Hardisty) West.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, located at 17131 Cleveland Road,
South Bend, Indiana 46635. Glen will receive a 21-gun military honor salute at 5:30 pm. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
