Glenn Walter Larson

FOUNTAIN HILLS - Glenn W. Larson, 90, died on October 21, 2023, at Friendship Village Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, Arizona surrounded by his loving family. Glenn was born August 6, 1933, in Hudson, South Dakota, to Arthur and Johanna (Enebo) Larson, the fifth of five boys. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1951, served proudly in the U.S. Army 1953-1955, and graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1958. He loved being a South Dakota boy through and through!
Glenn married his high school sweetheart in 1954. They were blessed with three children, Steven, Paul, and Julie. The couple later divorced. On August 10, 1985, Glenn married Jane Fuerstenberg Nekali, his loving wife of 38 years. He spent much of his career as an insurance adjuster for several companies in the Midwest, with his later years in Arizona for Prudential Insurance. He retired in 1994. Following retirement, he and Jane enjoyed traveling via RV to all 49 states one can drive to, as well as nine Canadian provinces. Their love of travel also took them to Australia, New Zealand and several European countries.
Glenn was very gregarious and would strike up a conversation with someone no matter where he was. He had a competitive spirit that was evident as he participated in high school sports, and as an adult when he golfed, bowled, and played senior softball. He proudly displayed four first place trophies won in the 80 and over age group in the Fountain Hills Turkey Trot, years 2015-2018. He enjoyed playing cards, Mahjongg, bingo and always the optimist, the lottery.
Glenn was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Lowell, James, Stanley and David, and his sons Steven and Paul. Glenn is survived by his wife Jane Nekali, daughter Julie Cossette, and stepsons Craig and John Nekali. He is also survived by grandchildren Maxwell and Samantha Cossette, Alexandra, Natalie and Grant Larson, and step-grandsons Nicholas, Nathan and Zachary Nekali, bonus granddaughter Keyosha McDonald and great-grandson Kaeden Dallas. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Ila Larson, Shirley Legler, and Carol Volk along with many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 12 at 2:00 PM at Messinger Mortuary in Fountain Hills.
