Gloria Jean Evers, age 84, of Columbiaville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.
Born on March 14, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Omeline (née Campau) Wildey. Gloria's young life was nurtured by her godsend, Sister Ann. Gloria graduated from Shrine Catholic High School in 1959 and went on to dedicate her life to caring for others. She started as a volunteer in the Lakeville school system at Columbiaville elementary in 1989. She was eventually hired as a special ed aide in 1994 and worked alongside her dear friend Joanne McNew for 10 years. Gloria eventually retired after 25 years in various capacities. She had a special love for children and was a bright, steady presence in the lives of her students and colleagues alike.
A longtime resident of Columbiaville for 32 years, and formerly of Clawson and Troy, Gloria embraced her community with open arms. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and found joy in simple pleasures: gardening flowers, shopping, and most of all, spending precious time with her family-especially her great-grandchildren in recent years.
On June 11, 1960, Gloria married the love of her life, Garnet Joseph Evers. Together they built a beautiful life and raised a loving family, cherishing nearly six decades of marriage until Garnet's passing on July 26, 2018.
Gloria is survived by her children, Lori (Leif) Baker, Michael Evers, and Timothy Evers; her six grandchildren, Justin, Chris, Seth, Megan, Brandon and Kirsten; and her four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Theo, Gus, and Nora. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnet Evers; and her son, James Evers.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, Clawson, Michigan, 48017. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 5, at the same location.
Those wishing to honor Gloria's memory are invited to make contributions to hospice care or to special education programs in Columbiaville. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Gloria, please visit our Tree Store.
