Gloria Wheeler, 83, formerly of Bremerton and Vancouver, Washington, passed away June 13, 2025, surrounded by family.
Gloria was born April 27, 1942, in Glendive, Montana, to Jess and Lorrence (Hesji) Seley, one of five children raised near Astoria, Oregon. She graduated from Knappa High School in 1960. Gloria married Stanley Wheeler in July of 1961; their family grew with children: Marjorie, Robin, Leah, Jeanie, Eugene, Rema, Tanya, and Neoma.
Stanley was career Navy, and the family moved often. Gloria was amazing at raising her children and making new friends while adapting to new places. She loved raising her children and was their biggest cheerleader; she was also an awesome "Mom Taxi" shuttling vanloads of children to their many activities. Gloria was actively involved in her children's lives, leading Boy Scout, Rainbow Girl, and Bluebird groups, and participating in PTSA at various schools. She always loved children, which led her to work for the Bremerton School District, where she was affectionately known as the "Loving Lunch Lady" by the students.
Gloria is a past member of the Philathea Chapter of the Eastern Star in Bremerton, Washington, and Grace Point Church in Vancouver, Washington. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her large extended family, crafting, and playing board and card games. She also loved to read, scrapbook, and research her family's genealogy.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Stanley, in 1995, and siblings: Lois Herlin and Joseph Seley.
Gloria will be greatly missed by her children: Marjorie (Jim) Kay, Robin Wheeler, Leah (Randy) Olson, Jeanie (Richard) Bruderer, Eugene Wheeler, Rema (Dennis) Granet, Tanya (Will) Everett, and Neoma (Keith) Castillo; her beloved nieces and nephews their children and spouses, the dozens of bonus children to whom she opened her arms, nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings: Thomas (Peggy) Seley and Ronald (Anna) Seley; along with many relatives and friends.
