Due to expected weather conditions, the Graveside services have been rescheduled for Friday, January 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at McCormick - St. John's Cemetery, Monett.
Gordon Ray Balden, 68, of Mt. Vernon, MO, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 while at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center in Sarcoxie, MO.
Gordon was born on March 5, 1954 in Monett, MO, son of the late George Henry Balden and Esther T. (Schmeling) Balden. At a young age, he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Gordon graduated from Monett High School with the class of 1972. As a man of honor, Gordon served his country for over fourteen years in the Army National Guard. For many years, Gordon had worked in construction before becoming self-employed as a tile setter. Afterwards, Gordon worked in flooring sales.
On July 16, 1976, Gordon married Terri Lynn Bradley in Monett. They have been blessed with over forty-six years of wonderful memories made together.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.
A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at McCormick - St. John's Cemetery in Monett. Pastor James Schnackenberg will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Monett Historical Society or St. John's Lutheran Church – Stones Prairie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.

I have known Gordon since 1988. He helped build my house and did jobs for me laying floors and tile. He was one of the very best. my prayers and sympathy for the family.
