Gracie L. Townsend, 51, of Decatur, spent her last days doing what she loved most: laughing and sharing memories with her family before passing away peacefully at her home in Decatur on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Gracie was born July 9, 1973 in Dowagiac, MI to Gerald and Linda Townsend, the second of three girls.
If it involved nature, animals, or being around those she loved, you could always count Gracie in! She loved spending time doing absolutely anything with her daughter, reading a good book, spending time at the South Haven beach (no matter what time of the year it was), and riding on the back of her fiance's motorcycle. Every time the sky was filled with pretty colors, Gracie would take pictures to share with her family and friends. And if you asked her, the Christmas season starts on November 1st.
Gracie is preceded in death by her father, Gerald Townsend. She will be missed dearly by her daughter, Brittny Mayfield; her mother, Linda Townsend; her sisters, Lisa Rife and Melissa Townsend; her fiancé, Robert "Lou" Hodgemire; as well as her bonus children, Terra (Trevor) Etter, Robert (Sierra) Hodgemire, Jr., Zachary Hodgemire; and their children, Garret, Arik, Havik, Zyler, and Hayes.
The family will be celebrating Gracie's life with a gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
