Gregory Allen Foote, age 75, of Newcomerstown passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in Summa Akron City Hospital at Akron.

Born in Dover on October 21, 1949, he was the son of the late Victor J. and Charlotte J. (Ackerman) Foote.

He was a 1968 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on March 29, 1970, he married the love of his life Shelley Garabrandt, and together they enjoyed 49 years of marriage before her passing in May of 2019.

Greg was employed as a body man for over 30 years in the auto restoration business. His last 16 years with Cua Refinishing in Dover. He also worked in a foundry for seven years. Always a motor head, he enjoyed cars all his life.

In his younger years he hunted, and that began a passion for guns. Through the years, his passion for hunting turned to fishing. He loved fishing throughout his lifetime. But his greatest joy was spending time with family.

Greg will be deeply missed by his family including his children, Timothy Foote of New Philadelphia, Christopher (Rhonda) Foote of Dover, and Melissa (Mike) Mick of Newcomerstown; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Alan and Kendra Lynn Foote, Cole Zachary Adam Miku; sister, Deb (Mark) Murphy of Dover; brother-in-law, Donnie Garabrandt of New Philadelphia; several lifelong friends; and his nephews and nieces, Matt (Mel) Murphy, Lindsay and Gabriel Garabrandt and Katie Levengood.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in passing by his infant son, Jeffrey Allen Foote.

In keeping with Greg’s wishes cremation care has been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. Greg and Shelley’s remains will be laid to rest with Jeffrey at a later date.
