Steven M. Foote, 59, of Chambersburg, PA passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in Fairfield, PA. Born May 13, 1966, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late William Foote and Ruth Ann (Shuhart) Garner.
He was a graduate of Valley High School, Lonaconing, MD with the Class of 1984. Steve then went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from West Virginia University with the Class of 1988. Later in life he received his MBA from University of Phoenix online. Steve was currently employed as the Director of TAO at Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD where he has worked for the past 36 years.
Steve was a loving husband, father, and friend to everyone that crossed his path. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rebecca “Becky” (Byers) Foote and two children, Christopher Foote of Shippensburg, PA and Katherine "Katie" Foote of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Foote.
Services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Walter Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, as well as one hour prior to the service, Tuesday afternoon in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or a charity of your choice. Music was also important to Steve and his family. If you would like to contribute to CASHS Marching Band (CABPA) or a high school band of your choice in his memory, his love of music will march on.
