Gregory Louis Goodrich

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Gregory Louis Goodrich, 60, of Stuart, FL, on August 15, 2024. This loss was very sudden, and his family is devastated. However, we take comfort in knowing he is with Jesus.
Greg was born on March 6, 1964 to Clyde Donald Goodrich and Margot (Loker) Goodrich in Oneonta, NY. Greg grew up in Franklin, NY, a quaint American town with his brother Doug Goodrich at the house on the hill that was built by his dad. His growing-up years included hunting in the woods, sledding on the hill, cross-country running on the beautiful country roads, eating his mom's apple pie (his favorite), and sharing the love of aviation with his dad and brother. Together they attended air shows and flew ultralights built by his dad. After graduating from Franklin Central School in 1983, he entered the U.S. Air Force. Continuing the family love for aviation, Greg obtained his Private Pilot License in his early USAF years. Promoted to Staff Sergeant while stationed at Beale Air Force Base, he earned his A.S. in Management Information Systems while working as a Computer Systems Program Technician (pre-mission programmer) for the SR-71 Blackbird - the fastest aircraft propelled by air-breathing engines. Greg loved his time in the military and was honorably discharged in 1990.
Greg grew up with his former spouse Lori (Barstow) Goodrich. They married in 1987 and had three amazing daughters, Theresa, Bethany, and Kristen Goodrich. Favorite times together included the infamous family bike rides, warm times together with extended family around the holidays, seeing the Blue Angels fly over the Golden Gate Bridge, family pizza-and-movie night on Saturdays, boating days, and Sunday afternoon naps by the fire. Although Greg and Lori divorced in 2021, a deep family love and commitment endures.
Greg was always passionate about his career and was the self-proclaimed "Jack Bauer" of cybersecurity for the power grid. He started his career at VELCO in Rutland, VT; moved to Albany, NY to work for NYISO; and in 2018 moved to Florida where he was most recently employed as the Principal Compliance & Risk Analyst for the NERC CIP Center of Excellence at NextEra Energy in Juno Beach, FL. Nicknamed "The Professor" by his colleagues, Greg had a passion for sharing his wealth of security compliance knowledge. His expertise and presence will be greatly missed across the industry.
Greg loved living in Florida and the lifestyle it allowed him to have. Whether it was taking his electric trike out to explore a new trail or swimming laps in his community pool, Greg fully embraced all the Sunshine State had to offer. He loved the outdoors and sharing time and meals with family and friends. Greg had such a generous heart and enjoyed connecting with and helping his neighbors.
Greg was predeceased by his father, Clyde Donald Goodrich. He is survived by his daughters Theresa Goodrich of Stuart, FL, Bethany and Kristen Goodrich of Grand Rapids, MI; his former wife Lori (Barstow) Goodrich of Palm City, FL; his mother Margot (Loker) Goodrich of Franklin, NY; his brother Doug (Janet) Goodrich of Endicott, NY; and nieces Alison and Abby Goodrich of Endicott, NY.

Calling hours are October 17th from 5:30-7:30pm at Hurricane Grill & Wings, Palm City, Florida. The family will have internment at 12:15 PM October 18, 2024 at South Florida National Cemetery.
