Greta's Legacy

Greta Inez Smith was born on October 24, 1969, to the proud parents Clemmie and Ruth Hazle Smith in Hillsboro, Texas, where she grew up surrounded by her five siblings. In her early years, her family later relocated to Wichita Falls, Texas, where Greta assisted her parents in the family-owned business, New Image Beauty Supply, located on Eastside Drive. She took great pride in working alongside her parents and her siblings, Judy and Rodney, in the family business. Under their guidance, Greta also established her own beauty salon as a part of the family enterprise.

Greta attended Kirby Junior High and graduated from Hirschi High School. She later pursued higher education at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, where she majored in English and Literature. A true lover of language, Greta was known among her nieces and nephews for her polished speech, quick wit, and mastery of words. They affectionately described her as a "wordsmith" and often joked admiringly about her "immaculate lingo."

Greta's gift for language naturally flowed into her ministry. She served faithfully as a Wednesday night Bible teacher for the women at Welch Street Church of Christ, where her lessons were thoughtful, well-prepared, and rich with spiritual insight. She challenged women not just to hear the Word, but to apply it practically to their daily lives.

More than a teacher, Greta was a mentor. She ministered to people on a deeply personal level, offering encouragement, wisdom, and a safe place to be real. She later became a Registered Trained Life Coach and founded her own business, Divinely Developed Life Coaching, where she focused on helping women-especially those over 40-rediscover their strength, identity, and God-given purpose. She also launched "Gigi Smith's Church Girl Podcast," extending her ministry beyond the walls of a building and into the lives of listeners wherever they were.

Greta carried a quiet but radiant presence-the kind of spirit that could light up a room without ever having to announce itself. Prayer was her heartbeat. She didn't merely speak about prayer - she lived it as a lifestyle. For Greta, prayer was not ritual, but transformation - the bridge to breakthrough, healing, restoration, clarity, and closeness with God.

One of her greatest gifts was her beautiful soprano voice. When Greta entered a sanctuary and lifted her voice in worship, she sang like a songbird - and everyone knew she was in the house. Throughout her life, she ministered in song across the United States. She was a part of 3 professional recording projects with True Fidelity, a group of family and friends that started in the living room of the Smith House, as well as "And The Church Said Amen", which is available across all streaming services.

Greta leaves to cherish her memory: Her Special Friend, Fiancé and Partner, Mr. Mark Perdue of Wichita Falls, TX
