He was born in Wooster on April 25, 1942 to the late Merle J. and Erma C. (Robb) Marthey. Butch was a 1960 graduate of Waynedale High School and was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He spent 35 years living in California before moving back to Apple Creek. He was a member of the Apple Creek American Legion.
He is survived by a sister, Bobbi Moretti of Cuyahoga Falls; a sister-in-law, Norma Marthey of Orrville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Helen Marthey; a brother, Larry Marthey; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Moretti.
Following his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 2-4:00 pm at the Apple Creek American Legion, 8493 Hackett
Road, Apple Creek, OH 44606.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Apple Creek American Legion.
