Virginia Mae “Ginny” Marthey, 91, of Apple Creek died Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the Wayne County Care Center in Wooster.
Ginny was born November 15, 1931 in Canton to Loy Joseph and Mary Zipporah {Griffeth}Yoder. She graduated from McKinley High School. She married Robert Marthey on February 9, 1952, he died in 2018.
Ginny worked briefly as an X-Ray Technician for Mercy Hospital in Canton, then was the Nursing Supervisor for the Family Practice Center in Orrville for 17 years.
She was a member of the Fountain Valley Homemakers and the Apple Creek Legion Auxiliary. She loved to cook, enjoyed golfing, reading, and doing crossword and word search puzzles. Ginny had a wonderful voice and enjoyed singing and entertaining with her husband, Bob.
Ginny will be deeply missed by her children David (Debbie) Marthey of Jonesboro, AK, Patrick Marthey, Karen Marthey and daughter-in-law Kathy Marthey all of Apple Creek; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother William Joseph Yoder of Chaing Mai, Thailand and sister Mary Jane Peterson of River Forest, IL.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, sons Michael Glayde Marthey and Daniel Joseph Marthey and a brother Virgil Griffeth Yoder.
Private burial will be at St. Genevieve Catholic Church Cemetery in Fredericksburg. Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is assisting with arrangements.
