Hazel Dean Bennett, age 92, of Upper Deerfield Township, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025 at her home under the care of her loving family and hospice. Her prayers were answered as she embarked on her final journey to her heavenly home.
From humble beginnings, born in the mountains of Raven Branch, Tennessee on March 11, 1933 as the youngest triplet to the late Fleurdelis (Laws) and Mark Evans. She was blessed with grit, determination, resiliency, compassion for others, and never-ending love for God, her family, and life.
In 1944, at the age of 11, she relocated with her family to Seabrook, New Jersey. Hazel graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1952 and married her late husband Donald Ellis Bennett in 1957. Together they raised 4 children in the home they built where everyone was welcomed in with open arms.
During her days on earth, she was known as daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid animal lover and never without a dog by her side. To her, pink was not a color it was an attitude. Aside from enjoying gardening, music, dancing, and the Philadelphia Phillies, her most cherished joys in life were supporting her children and grand-children's interests. She was always in the crowd at horse shows, art exhibits, tennis matches, softball, baseball, basketball, and soccer games encouraging confidence.
Hazel retired from Upper Deerfield Schools where she was known as Mrs. Bennett, Mom Bennett, and Mom-Mom Bennett. She was a past member of Pearl Street Baptist Church, Centerton Freewill Baptist Church and most recently a virtual attendee at Sugar Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by 4 children: Donna Bennett (James Crawford), Lisa Archer (Michael), Deana Boswell (John), and David Bennett (Janet).
She is survived by 9 grandchildren: Allison Archer-Eubanks (Joshua), Christina Archer, Michael Archer (Jocelyn), Brandon Boswell (Allison), Blake Boswell (Samantha), Jacob Boswell, KelliAnne Charlotte Crawford, Jaclyn Bennett, and Jaime Bennett.
She is survived by 5 great-grandchildren: Jae in Houston, Texas, Brynne in Upper Deerfield, New Jersey, and Harper, Sophe, and Mackenzie in Kenner, Louisiana.
Hazel is also survived by her loving triplet brother Herman Evans and 4 generations of precious nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 4 siblings: DB Evans, Pauline Garrett, Mary Inez Johnson, and Helen Evans.
Hazel's family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the quality care provided by her personal caregivers and Angelic Health Hospice nurses, social workers, musicians, and chaplains.
