Eleni " Helen" Glynos passed away surrounded by her family on April 23,2024. She was born in Manhattan on May 16, 1927, she was the middle child of Bartholomew and Panagotia Stamatelopoulos. She grew up in the depression with many adverserties, at a young age, she lost her father and younger sister. During the Second WW, while her brother Anastasios was shipped to Europe, she attended Morris High School in the Bronx. She enjoyed her modern dance class that she attended with her cousin and many long time friends. After High School she worked for several companies including American Potash and Continental Shipping Co.,she was also a member of her church Philophtochos and the Ladies of Penelope. She always believed in higher education and always aspired to attend college.While working she later attended Columbia University and finished her degree in English Literature in 1954. She continued to work as a para legal and lived with her widowed mother. In 1957 she was introduced,by her uncle to a Merchant Seamen and Chef from Andros Greece, Evangelos Glynos, she was married on Dec 8, 1957. After have her two children, they later moved to Tenafly to raise her children.After years of being a housewife, in 1982 she returned to work where she was the office manager and paralegal at Ampton Investments, in Manhattan until her retirement in 2009. In 2020, she moved to an assisted living facility in Moorestown NJ, to have help and to be closer to family and her adoring grandchildren. Her greatest achievement was being with them, telling them how to always try to achieve more and never be complacent and telling them her stories about growing up in NYC. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, that she was so proud of, and her children: John Barry Glynos, David and Vikki, and grandchildren Evangelos, Michael and her most cherished Eleni. Service will be April 26 at St John GO Church on Tenafly NJ at 12 noon located 353 E Clinton Av Tenafly, NJ. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the St John Cathedral

To John Barry Glynos, David and Vikki, and grandchildren Evangelos, Michael and Eleni.

Please accept our deepest condolences and sincere sympathies at this difficult time.

Although we never knew or met Helen, she was obviously a n incredible lady and an inspiration to you all.

May you all take solace in knowing that she was happy being around her beloved family.

We are thinking of you all and may she rest in peace.
