Helen Morgan Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Helen Nichols Morgan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted nurse, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, in Lewes, Delaware. She was 84 years old.
Born on October 6, 1940, in Wilmington, Delaware, Helen was the daughter of the late Guy G. Bridges and Margaret A. Bridges. She spent her formative years in Wilmington, graduating from Conrad High School in 1958. Helen's passion for caring for others led her to pursue a career in nursing, and she proudly graduated from the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in 1961.
A devoted emergency room nurse for over 40 years, Helen spent her career at Christiana Care, mostly Wilmington Emergency, on the front lines of care, offering calm, compassion, and clinical excellence in times of crisis. Known for her steady presence and selfless heart, she was deeply respected by colleagues and beloved by the patients and families she served. Helen was described as one of a kind and touched many lives at Wilmington Emergency.
After retiring, she realized she missed nursing and commuted from Lewes to Wilmington most weeks to continue providing nursing care to the patients at Wilmington Emergency. She did this for about 18 years. Helen was just short of her goal to work until the age of 80 years.
Beyond her professional life, Helen found immense joy in her family. She cherished moments with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. She loved to spend time dancing with her beloved husband. She dedicated countless hours over the years participating in the senior center shows, where she shared her vibrant spirit and talent. She touched countless lives through her work and personal connections and will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering dedication, and gentle spirit.
She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Ralph Morgan; her children: David Nichols (Denise), Thomas Nichols (Yvonne), Michael Nichols (Wendy), and Karen Miller (William). Her legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Borders, and niece, Christa Lehman (Karl). She was reunited in peace with her granddaughter, Samantha Lynn Nichols, who preceded her in death.
Burial will be private. The family intends to celebrate her life at a later date. Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations in Helen's memory be made to Delaware Hospice, 630 Churchmans Road, Suite 200, Newark, DE 19702, or donate online at: www.delawarehospice.org/donate
