Mildred R. Stack, age 94, of Dover, DE passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2025.
She was born on August 31, 1930, in Baltimore, MD to the late Edwin E. and Grace A. Rodenheiser. Mildred attended Conrad High School and was a Majorette in the marching band. She worked for DuPont Company in data entry until she started her family and returned to work at Avon in Newark once her children became adults.
She spent summers at her summer home in Fenwick Island with her children, from the time they got out of school in June until Labor Day. She enjoyed sitting on the beach for the day or using their rowboat on the bay with her dog Suzie to read a book. Mildred and her late husband enjoyed numerous cruises and many road trips. They moved to Florida for 15 years and returned to Delaware once their grandchildren were born.
Mildred's hobbies included watching her husband for almost 70 years play baseball and later in life softball, playing her organ, playing bridge, reading, walking, going to the beach, and crabbing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Robert "Bob" Stack.
Mildred is survived by her children, Jeffrey R. Stack (Barbara), and Karen K. Nardo (William III), grandchildren, Nicole McCall (Roger), Marc Stack (Crystal), William Nardo IV (Ashley), Danielle Nardo, and Christopher Nardo (Samantha Quill), 11 great grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Rash.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Delaware and Griswold Home Care. Mildred especially enjoyed her visits with Miss. Marie and Miss. Connie
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 11 am – 12 pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709. A funeral service will begin at 12pm. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear, DE.
