Irene Doris "Renee" Silver

Irene Doris Silver, lovingly known as Renee, passed away peacefully at her home in Townsend, Delaware, on July 4, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family. She was 85.
Born on May 29, 1940, in Crisfield, Maryland, Irene was the daughter of the late Mae Lawrence and Charles Granville Pruitt. A proud graduate of Conrad High School, Class of 1958, she cherished her roots, and the many friendships formed over the years.
Irene is survived by her loving husband, Richard S. Silver, Sr.; her daughter, Debbie Hughes (Harry); her son, R. Scott Silver, Jr. (Susan); and her four grandchildren: Eric Silver, Rachel Silver, Montana Hughes, and Serena Hughes. She adored her family and was a constant source of love, strength, and laughter.
As one of twelve children, Irene held a deep connection with her siblings. She was preceded in death by Donald Lawrence, Dickie Pruitt, Charles "Pudgie" Pruitt, James "Smoe" Pruitt, Terry Rembecki, Debbie Kopanski, Mary Etta "Marzy" Uriani, Bobby Pruitt, and Steve Pruitt. She is survived by her sister Judy Pruitt and brother Mark Pruitt, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Irene had a wholesome spirit and a joyful heart. She was a passionate fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, a lifelong Elvis Presley enthusiast, and she enjoyed visiting local casinos to play the slots. Most of all, she loved spending time with her beloved dog, Buster, who was always by her side.
Her legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and a strong loving family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held for family and friends at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE on Tuesday, July 15th. A viewing will take place from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., followed by a brief service at 1:00 p.m. A private ceremony will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Irene by sharing a memory, watching a Phillies game, or simply enjoying time with loved ones-just as she always did. Also, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association and/or the Delaware Hospice.
