Blacksburg - Helen Elliott Riddle, 100, formerly of 102 E. Ramseur Drive, widow of Edward S. "Ned" Riddle, passed away peacefully January 5th, 2025, at Viva Senior Living in Gaffney. Born March 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Carl Robert and Mabel Ramseur Elliott.
A native and lifetime resident of Blacksburg, SC, she was a graduate of Blacksburg High School. Mrs. Riddle was a lifelong member of the Blacksburg Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Some of the many things she enjoyed throughout her life were playing bridge and tennis with dear Blacksburg friends, camping and fishing on Edisto Island, and watching Clemson football games. But the thing she loved most was family, and she loved to reminisce about life in Blacksburg growing up with her large family.
She is survived by her son, Ned (Jan) Riddle of Iva; her grandchildren, Katy (Robert) Wechbacher of Mt. Pleasant, Bill (Ashley) Wilkins of Greer, Emily (Travis) Bizzell of Kershaw, Elliott (Tiffany) Riddle of Summerville, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan E. Creech of Mt. Pleasant, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Harriet R. Wilkins, two brothers, John Malcolm Easterby and Jack R. Elliott; and two sisters, Jean E. Koon and Margaret E. Troublefield.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, from l:00-2:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Mark Donald officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Blacksburg ARP Church, 108 South Chester Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
