Loving mother of Deborah Adams and Denise Struck. Dear grandmother of Allison Adams and Melissa Adams. Adored sister of Harv Kistler, Herb Kistler, Harry Kistler, Hugh Kistler and Howard "Scott" Kistler. Helen also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members. Helen was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband of 50 years Benjamin "Ben" Zaporowski, and her brother Harland Kistler.
Helen grew up in Rapid City SD, and attended Rapid City High School, class of 1963. After High School Helen left South Dakota on an adventure and landed in Chicago, IL, where she met Ben and married August 29, 1970. After the girls grew up Helen decided that she would like to keep working with children and took a job as a teachers' aide at Prussing Elementary School in Chicago until she retired. Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending precious time with family and friends. She proudly sewed costumes for the Explorer Post plays, Prussing Elementary plays, and her daughters' wedding dress.
Helens family will be holding services privately.

I worked with Helen at Prussing Elementary for 30 plus years
She was an AWESOME woman. She always had a joke and a smile.
I had the blessing of knowing her girls and watching them grow into great woman
