Henry Walter Beutler
February 3, 1941 - May 11, 2025
Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Henry Walter Beutler passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 11, 2025, after declining health as a result of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. He was able to spend his days at home because of the sacrifice and devotion of his beloved wife Coleen and the dedication of his daughter Rebecca.
Born February 3, 1941, in Dayton, Idaho to Walter Beutler and Loverill Kemp, Henry was the seventh of eight children. He grew up on a family farm where he learned to work hard and have fun. As one of the family historians, his stories about farm life became legends among his children and grandchildren.
He served in the West Germany mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1961 to 1963. Then returned home and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University in 1967. He felt inspired to move to Denver, Colorado for his first job and there met the love of his life, his wife, Coleen Jones. They were married in the Logan Temple on May 28, 1968. Henry and Coleen moved to Delaware and lived there until their first child, a daughter, passed away at four weeks old. They relocated to
Brigham City, Utah in 1975 and welcomed four more daughters from 1975 to 1982.
Henry was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family, camping, gardening, or puttering in the yard. His family loved eating his famous dutch oven chicken and potatoes and the grandchildren looked forward to rides with Papa on his antique tractor. He could make almost anything out of wood and was the original Do-It-Yourself guy, making furniture and other items for his wife and daughters that are treasured mementos. Henry worked in the aerospace industry for many years at Boeing, Thiokol and Northrop Grumman. He had an engineering mind and an exceptional talent for being able to take things apart, fix them and put them back together.
He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and tried to follow Jesus Christ in all he did. At 5'7" tall, Henry was a gentle giant. He noticed others' needs and quietly took action to meet those needs - whether it was attending girls camp for the 7th year in a row, extending a hand of friendship, or helping with a project until it was complete. He was genuinely kind, compassionate, and encouraged everyone to be better and try new things.
Henry was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristen Lea, his parents, Walter and Loverill Beutler and his sisters, Blanche Alder, Hazel Page, Virginia Carter and Margaret Winward. He is survived by his beloved wife, Coleen, his daughters Kara (Arlo) Weston, Hollie (Lincoln) Mumford, Ami (Matthew) Alvey, Rebecca Beutler, and 16 grandchildren, as well as his siblings Laurn Beutler, Ethel Anderson, Sheldon (Patsy) Beutler.
