Henry James "Hank" Keene, a cherished husband, loving father, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, at the age of 73 in Marlette, Michigan. Born on August 31, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, Hank was a man of great humor, generosity, and kindness whose presence brought joy to all who knew him.
Hank proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism. After his military service, he returned to his roots in Michigan, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and his willingness to lend a helping hand.
Family was the cornerstone of Hank's life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon, who was not only his partner in life but also his best friend. His sister, Karen Parrett, shared many fond memories with Hank, and his legacy continues through his granddaughter, Jileesa Irwin, and great-granddaughter, Rylee Irwin. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Margit (Linde) Keene, his stepmother, Phyllis Keene, and his beloved sons, Jesse and Joshua Keene.
An avid outdoorsman, Hank found solace and excitement in the natural world. He was particularly proud of the trophy bear he shot in Newberry, Michigan, a testament to his skill and passion for hunting. His fishing trips to Alaska with his son were among his most treasured moments, reflecting the deep bond they shared. Hank's love of fishing was only matched by his enthusiasm for golfing, which he often described as his favorite pastime.
Hank's interests were as diverse as they were engaging. He loved to travel, especially camping trips that allowed him to explore the great outdoors. Boating, bowling, and playing pool were among his many hobbies, but it was the time spent with family and friends that truly filled his heart with happiness. His wife Sharon's amazing cooking was a source of pride for Hank, and he never missed an opportunity to brag about her culinary talents.
Known for his unique sense of humor, Hank had a knack for giving family members endearing nicknames, a playful tradition that will be fondly remembered by all. His generous spirit and kind heart made him a beloved figure, and his absence will be deeply felt by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Cremation has taken place. No services are planned per Hanks wishes. Memorial contributions in honor of Hank may be made to the family to start a college fund for his Great Granddaughter. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville. Share memories, condolences, and pictures with the family at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.
