Howard Clement Lewis

Howard "Howie" "Knute" Clement Lewis, 76, of Coralville, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at The Bird House, Hospice Home of Johnson County, Iowa City. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church at 11 AM. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM, Tuesday, September 30 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery following the service. A funeral luncheon will be held immediately after burial at The Knights of Columbus, 4776 American Legion Rd, Iowa City, IA, 52240. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Ronald McDonald House.

Howard was born on July 17, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Carrie (Graper) Lewis. He was a graduate of Iowa City High School and received his Bachelor of Science from The University of Iowa in 1972. Howard was united in marriage to Dorothy Greazel on November 24, 1972, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, they would have celebrated their 53 anniversary this year. He was a UPS delivery driver for over 34 years, retiring in 2005. Howard Lewis, a UPS driver who had his route in North Liberty for nearly 24 years and was the recipient of the Business Community Thank You for his outstanding service to the North Liberty area.

Howard attended Zion Lutheran Church; were he was known for washing dishes, ushering, and a part of the lawn mowing crew. He was a member of the Monday Morning Optimist Club of Coralville; where he was a past President, Chairman of the Pancake Breakfast, and an annual participant in the 4th of July parade. He was a member of Eagles Club, IClub, Sierra Club, Defenders of the Wildlife, Teamsters Union 238, County Johnson Irish, as well. Howard also enjoyed participating in a golf league and two bowling leagues.

Howard is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Coralville; two children, Natalie Lewis and Sean Lewis of Avondale, AZ; three siblings, Robert (Jane) Lewis of Loveland, CO, Sandra (Hal) Weinard of West Liberty, IA, and Linda (Ed) Scheetz of North Liberty, IA; six brothers and sister-in-law, Delores Eden of Iowa City, Robert (Delline) Greazel Jr. of Atalissa, IA, Jim (Nancy) Greazel of Iowa City, John (Joan) Greazel of Iowa City, Frank (Cathy) Greazel of Iowa City, Paul Greazel of West Branch and numerous nieces and nephews. Howard is also survived by his second family, the Denneny clan.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Robert and Gertrude Greazel, brother, Ervin Lewis; and brother-in-law, Bill Eden.
