Born on June 20, 1958 in Corning, NY, he was the son of the late Howard E. 'Howdy Doody' and Viola P. (Harrison) Thom. Brian attended Horseheads High School. He married Phyllis Elwood on February 14, 2001. He worked as an ME02 for the Town of Big Flats for over 37 years before his retirement.
Brian was an avid outdoorsman - enjoying fishing, hunting and trapping. He also loved animals and had numerous pets throughout his life that he considered his children.
He was a member of the Big Flats American Legion Post# 1612 for 50 years.
Howard is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Thom of Big Flats, NY; half-brothers: Ronnie Horton, Bobby Horton; nephews and niece: Andrew Quick, Johnny Williams, Melissa Williams; cousins: Deborah Ritter, George Anderson, Cindy Schmit; sister-in-law, Joanie Horton; and special friends: David (Sandy) Reynolds, Bill Storm, Billy (Tanya) Storm, Steve (Mary) Cole, Nikko (Natasha) Reep, Larry (Janet) Wenck, John (Amy) Williams, Joe (Bridget) Gush, Glen (Lisa) Coats, Levi Case and so many more.
In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased by his half-brother, William Horton and his 4 four legged children: Bo, Jennifer, Norman, and Teddy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements.
