SANTA FE, TEXAS – Howell William Holland, 85, a resident of Santa Fe, Texas, passed from this life on February 1, 2025. He was born in Galveston, Texas on November 21, 1939, to parents, Howell Joseph Holland and Alice (Derousse) Holland.
He was a graduate of Santa Fe High School and Texas A&M University, Class of 61.
Hal proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy (1961-67). He worked as a purchasing agent for several shipyards in the Gulf Coast area.
He was actively involved in the community. You could find him at a ballpark, gym, deer blind, casting a line or at a winery. Dad did not meet a stranger and touched numerous lives. He was his children's and grandchildren's loudest supporter and biggest fan. Gardening was his passion, and he enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with everyone.
Howell is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carol. He leaves behind to treasure his memory, daughters, Kiki Obidinski and husband, Mike, Heather Goodman and husband, Jeff and Christina McNally and husband, Jason and son, Peter Holland and wife, Shannon.
In his honor, there will be a visitation on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas followed by a rosary at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock, Texas. Committal will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, also inHitchcock, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Parker Holland, Trevor Holland, Cary Obidinski, Jacob Goodman, and granddaughters Emma Holland and Sabina Yochum. Honorary pallbearers are Victoria McNally, Isabell McNally, Gabi Obidinski and Blaise Yochum.
