Ian Michael Thomas of Warminster, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was 35 years old.
Ian was born on June 3, 1989, to Bryn and Marlys (nee Turner) Thomas in Trenton, NJ. He had strong connections to family on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean and visited with them frequently.
He was raised in Harleysville, PA, where he was known as an adventurous, fun loving, and curious child. He could often be found defending the under dogs at school and practicing Tae Kwon Do, which he continued through high school and eventually earned his fifth-degree black belt.
Ian graduated in 2008 from both Souderton Area High School and North Montco Technical Career Center with a focus in Protective Services. While his specific jobs were diverse, Ian's career was defined by serving others with kindness and compassion. He started as a security guard before saving countless lives as a certified EMT. His colleagues on the ambulance, in the Emergency Room, and in the pediatric wing overnight shift agree that Ian's calm, caring nature brought peace to many patients and their families over the years. Recently, Ian became a Certified Personal Trainer with the goal of helping others stay healthy and strong.
Ian met his wife Megan (neé Katz) at Christ Lutheran Church youth group. Their deep connection changed from friends to life partners when they finally started dating in 2014. In 2016, Ian surprised her with a castle proposal in Wales that she eagerly accepted. The young couple bought a home in Warminster in 2017, tied the knot in 2019, and traveled extensively together -visiting 13 countries in less than 8 years.
Ian was the kind of man who treasured both the simplicity of drinking his Scotch neat and the excitement of experiencing many world cultures. Ian found joy in his passions for hiking, kayaking, music, lifting weights, video editing, and cooking. He could be found playing PC video games with friends or re-watching Pulp Fiction or Star Wars. For 16 years, Ian drove his Jeep Wrangler "Brooke," ideally without the doors on and with music blaring. Ian was proud of his Welsh heritage and followed the Welsh Rugby Team emphatically. Most of all, Ian will be remembered for his effortless ability to make others laugh, finding the humor and sharing his wit in everyday moments, and being fiercely protective of the people he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife Megan, proud parents Bryn and Marlys, many dear friends he considered family, and Millie, the best dog ever.
A celebration of Ian's life will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, September 30, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike,
Telford, PA 18969, where the family will greet friends from 1-2:15 PM.
Loved ones are welcome to attend in what makes them most comfortable - from traditional black attire to any old T shirt that Ian would have appreciated.
