Imelda L. “Mel” Hying, 83, of Potosi, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025. A private Celebration of Life for family only will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin. A prayer service will take place at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. David Flanagan officiating.
Mel was born on April 20, 1942, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Vincent and Catherine (Kieler) Loeffelholz. She graduated from Cuba City High School in 1961. Mel was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” L. Hying on August 27, 1966, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville, Wisconsin.
Mel devoted herself to raising her children and supporting the family businesses. She had strong bonds with her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. In her free time, Mel enjoyed crafting, sewing, quilting and reading. Occasionally she went fishing with Bob, enjoying any time they spent together.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Hying, Potosi, WI; three children, Jill (Sean McMahon) Langmeier and Amy Hying, both of Potosi, WI, and Robert A. Hying, La Crosse, WI; six sisters, Bernadette Williams, Lancaster, WI, Felicia Schmitt, Platteville, WI, Agnes (Norbert) Fritz, Lancaster, WI, Madonna (Mick) Whitaker and Mary (Harvey) Kruser, both of Potosi, WI, and Ruth Wiederholt, Kieler, WI; three brothers, Fidelis Loeffelholz, Platteville, WI, Vincent (Sally) Loeffelholz, Dickeyville, WI, and Thomas (Connie) Loeffelholz, Platteville, WI; four grandchildren, Jamie (Rachel) Langmeier, Emily (Jonathan) Pulver, Kaitlin Hying and Kaila Hying; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jane Novotney and Cecelia Collins; a sister-in-law, Nancy Loeffelholz; three brothers-in-law, Leo Abing, Don Williams and LaVern Wiederholt; and a great-granddaughter, Ellee Louise Pulver.
Memorials in Imelda’s name may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Southwest Health, St. Dominic Villa and St. Croix Hospice for their care of Mel.
