Ira Eugene (Gene) Cornstubble, 76, passed away on November 6, 2023, in Huntsville, Texas. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family as stories and memories were being told. He was born on December 13, 1946, in Fort Worth, Tx. Gene was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Gene was a man who brought us to our knees with a twinkle in his eye and jokes up his sleeve, he left us chuckling, even as our hearts grieve. He had a warm and welcoming personality that endeared him to everyone he met. He had a passion for fishing, following his grandchildren's activities, and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha, of 56 years, his daughters Lenora Stein (husband Mark), Angela Thormer, and Stacey Brown (husband Steve). He was a cherished grandfather to Amanda Hogan, Michael Thormer (wife Georgia), Kyle Brown (wife Bethany), Cody Brown (wife Taylor), Cole Brown, and a step granddaughter, Adrian Randles (husband Brandon). Gene was also a proud great-grandfather to Reese Randles (14), Evan Randles (11), Adeline Thormer (7), Audrey Thormer (4), Charlotte Thormer (15 months), Heidi Brown (23 months), and Waylon Brown (1 month). Their laughter and innocence are a true tribute to a life well-lived, a love that can never be destroyed.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Hazel, and his brothers Billy Joe (BJ), Luther, and JW Cornstubble. Gene and his brothers were very close and now, their spirits entwined, forever bound, and will have an eternal 'prayer' meeting.
Gene proudly served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1970. He was a dedicated and honorable sergeant, and his contributions to his country will always be remembered. He was a hero in the truest sense, his sacrifice echoing through the endless sky.
In his professional life, Gene was a man of enterprise, a born entrepreneur, and was fierce and bold, as he owned several businesses. He was the owner of NLS until 2010 and was known for his extraordinary salesmanship as he charmed people with his words and persuasive tendencies.
As we gather to bid him farewell, to honor and mourn his passing, a funeral for Gene's life will be held at Sam Houston Funeral Home, located at 1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, TX 77340. Visitation will be held on Friday November 10, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday November 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Memorial condolences to the family may be made at www.shmfh.com.
Gene Cornstubble will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
