Irene Riffle, 100, of Genoa, and formerly of Woodville passed away at Genoa Care Center, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Irene was born on December 14, 1924 in Woodville, OH to George and LaVerna (Hayes) Hohlfelder.
On December 30, 1950 she married the love of her life, James M. Riffle at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hessville, OH. Jim and Irene had three children, Larry A. (Debbie) Riffle, Lou Ann (David) Hoiles, and David (Rachel) Riffle. She is survived by 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James, son Larry Riffle, and all her siblings and their spouses, Dorothy (Art Bruns) Hohlfelder, Edward (Dorothy) Hohlfelder, and Warren Hohlfelder.
Irene graduated from Woodville High School in 1943. After graduation she worked at the American Propeller Plant in Toledo, 2 years at the Auto Lite Plant in Toledo, and from 1945-1950 as S.E. Hymans Company in Fremont, OH. After her marriage in 1950 she became a full-time homemaker.
Irene was a member of the Woodville United Methodist Church where her ministries included Prayer Shawls, and assisting in working the funeral luncheons until 2013. She and her husband Jim, shared a passion for Blue Grass music and attended many festivals during their early retirement years. She would be playing her mandolin and Jim would play his guitar. She had many joys, but it was her family, especially her many grand, and great-grandchildren that brought her the most joy.
Family and friends will be received 9-11 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2025 with a Funeral Service at 11 a.m., at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 201 West Main, Woodville, OH. Officiating will be, Rev. Dee Baker. Irene will be laid to rest next to Jim at Restlawn Memorial Park in Perrysburg.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of caregivers at Genoa Assisted Living and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the wonderful care she received during the last week of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to: Woodville United Methodist Church, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

My condolences to Louann an David, I have many fond memories of your Mom, the time she took to be our forever pitcher for us playing baseball, the many sleep overs, being a Awesome neighbor friend to our family. God bless. Diane Dimoff Barboza
