Charles "Charlie" F. Gallup, Jr., of Sandusky, Ohio and formerly of Elmore, Ohio, passed away on March 6, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born on July 14, 1929, in Circleville, Ohio, to Charles F. Sr. & Mae (Foster) Gallup. He graduated from Woodville High School in 1948. Charlie joined the U.S. Army in 1948 and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring as a Sergeant 1St Class in 1968.
Charlie worked for Libby Owens Ford Co. for 17 years and then became an owner/operator truck driver for 13 years. He also worked for Rouen Chrysler before retiring in 2006. In 2018 Charlie moved to the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio, and came out of retirement to take a job with the Veteran's Home post office from 2018-2021.
Charlie joined the Masonic order in 1961 as a member of Genoa Lodge F. & A.M. 433 and was also a member of the Zenobia Shrine T-Birds. He was an avid camper and boater and enjoyed going to car shows and flea markets and loved spending time with family and all his beloved pets, throughout the years.
Charlie married Nell (Thompson) on December 31, 1952, and later married Constance (Boyle) on February 9, 1970. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John and James Gallup, sister, Opal Stancil, wives, Nell and Connie Gallup, and his son-in-law, Mark Frey. Surviving are his children, Gary (Babette) Gallup, Rhonda (Stan) Duncan, Phillip (Dawn) Gallup, Karon Gallup and John Gallup, stepchildren, Bill (Charlene) O'Connell, Kevin (Wendy) O'Connell, and Constance Frey. His grandchildren include Mike (Bev) Gallup, Stacy (Nick) Patterson, Breanna Gallup, Spencer Gallup, Boston Gallup, Luna Gallup, Tara (Chase) Boltz, step grandchildren, Kyle O'Connell, Zack and Brian O'Connell, Brendan and Kylar Frey, and great grandchildren, Alivianna Gallup, Nolan, Scarlett and Violet Patterson, Boston and Brady Boltz, and nieces and nephews.
Charlie's family extends a sincere "Thank You" to all the staff at the Sandusky Veterans Home for their wonderful care and treasured friendships.
Visitation for Charlie is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. The Genoa Lodge #433 will conduct a Masonic Service at 6:30 PM in the funeral home. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, with burial to follow in the Westwood Cemetery, Woodville, Ohio. Full military honors will be conducted at the gravesite by the Walbridge VFW Post #9963. Charlie's family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Red as our family called (Charlie) was very close to our family. We always throughly enjoyed when ever we could be together with him and his family. Our mom his cousin always felt like he was like another brother to her. We will surely miss him and his great spirit and love of life.our deepest sympathies to all of you may God bless and comfort you all.Love Rick Stewart and family
