Joseph Brent Nielsen 78, born April 15, 1947, died July 2, 2025, in Lehi, Utah, after 68 years of suffering from health issues. He was born in American Fork, Utah to Burton Joseph and Ruby Freeman Nielsen, the 6th of 6 children.
Brent grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He had a happy childhood with good friends and his brothers and sisters. He especially enjoyed many years playing with friends and his sister, Kaye. When he was 10 years old, he contracted encephalitis, which left him with epilepsy the rest of his life. He
never complained about his situation. He just took it in stride and lived a life of kindness, generosity and sharing his love with all. He blessed so many lives with kindness and love. He truly was a wonderful example of a disciple of Christ.
He attended Central Elementary, Grovecrest Elementary, Pleasant Grove Jr. High and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1965. He was involved in the High School band and the Thespian Club. He made many friends in school.
After his father died, Brent and his mother moved to Lehi in 1971 to be closer to their family. He was a resident of Lehi for 54 years.
He worked for Deseret Pharmaceutical in Sandy until health issues forced him to retire.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He resided at Abbington Memory Care in Lehi since November 2011.
We wish to thank the entire staff at Abbington for their kind, compassionate care for Brent. Also, we would like to thank Bristol Hospice for their loving care.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Ruby Nielsen,
his brothers and sisters, Geneal Winslow, Jay Nielsen, Janice Thornton Kolan, and Leland (Carol) Nielsen. His brothers-in-law, Wayman Winslow, Leon Thornton, Lee Carlson, John Kolan and sister-in-law, Edna Nielsen. Along with nephews; Timothy Winslow, Steven Thornton, and Douglas Thornton.
He is survived by his sister, Kaye Carlson Atkinson, (Curtis), sister-in-law, Carol Nielsen, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM with a viewing at 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Olpin Family Mortuary in Pleasant Grove. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
