Age 95, was born July 12, 1929 in Kayford, WV the son of the late Harold and Mintie (Stanley) Darby. Jack passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at his home with his family at his side. His first wife, Geneva Darby; second wife, Patricia (Tuttle) Darby; brothers, Harold Darby Jr. and John Darby; step-daughter, Barbara Gardner preceded him in death. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters: Judith Darby, Jean (Andrew) Willard; honorary daughter, Jo (Bob) Truax; honorary son, Ed (Joan) Sellers; step-children: Linda Keehan, Deb (Bob) Correll, Sandy Swan, Gloria (Elmer) Decker, Jimmy (Lairen) Vanderpool and Billy (Sarah) Vanderpool; brother: James Darby; sister: Wilma Morgan; special nephews, Kyle Truax and Tony (Jen) Truax; adored grandchildren: Nicole (Alex) Cook and Ryan (Laura) Willard; great grandchildren: Isla Cook and Benedict Willard; special friend, Barbara Dove. Jack retired from Anchor Glass as maintenance supervisor with over 20 + years of dedicated service. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to golf. He enjoyed fishing and camping especially at Lake Bonin. On many "special occasions" he enjoyed his crown royal on the rocks. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Jack will be laid to rest in the Woodlawn National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 11:00 am. The Chemung County Veterans Honor Guard will accord Military Honors to Mr. Darby.
