Jack Carson Massey Jr., of Weatherford, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 25, 2021, at the age of 72. Jack was, first and always, a Godly family man, who was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Papa.

In 1961, at age 13, Jack met Jeanette, the love of his life, when he rode his bike to her porch to deliver the newspaper. Jack decided on that day that Jeanette would one day be his wife. On August 30, 1969, he married Jeanette, and they loved and cherished each other every day for the next 51 years. Jack and Jeanette had three children, and Jack became a model father, ensuring that they were loved, provided for, entertained, and educated. Jack was always quick with a joke and a smile, and kept his family laughing every day. When his children grew up and were married, Jack welcomed their spouses and treated them as his own children. Jack became a Papa to four amazing grandsons, and he lived for those kids just the same as his own children. Jack loved attending his grandson’s baseball and football games, cheering as loud as he could and enjoying their successes. He could also be found taking his younger grandsons for scooter rides around the neighborhood with his wife, encouraging their curiosity and teaching them about the world while listening to their stories.

Jack enjoyed golfing, music, history, and games with his family. He once bowled a 261, and he thought you should know that. Jack was an unfair advantage for your trivia team, and was always the first pick. He was a funny, honest, kind man of integrity and faith. Jack served faithfully in many capacities in his church congregations in roles from elder to worship leader and everything else in between. His love for the Lord was reflected in every aspect of his life. He was always quick to smile, offer assistance, and lend quiet wisdom to anyone who needed it.

Jack worked at many jobs over the course of his life, but will be remembered most for his time as a credit manager and a paper boy. Jack was the first in his family to earn a college degree, graduating from Sam Houston State University in 1970 with a degree in history and his teacher’s certificate. Jack encouraged his children and grandchildren to understand the value of education, and to always remember that words have meaning. While Jack was never a full-time school teacher, he worked as a part-time substitute after retirement and loved his time in Brock schools. Jack loved to share history tidbits, his knowledge, and interesting facts with his children and grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jeanette, as well as his three children and their spouses: Melanie and Brian Finney, Jeff and Annie Massey, and Zack and Jennifer Massey, along with his four incredible grandsons: Jackson Finney, Carson Finney, Jack Massey, and Reid Massey. Jack is also survived by his sister and her husband, Beverly and George Grichuk, along with their children, Michelle and Randal, and his wife, Victoria.

A memorial service is being held by the family at Willow Park Baptist Church, Willow Park, Texas, on April 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
