With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our dear brother, Jacob Jerome Nanez, who peacefully departed this world on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Hillcrest Medical Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 44. Born on Saturday, November 15, 1980, to Jessie and Francis Ochoa Nanez in Richmond, Texas. Jacob lived a life full of resilience, joy, and deep love for his family.
Jacob was a shining light in our family, a pillar of strength and a beacon of hope for all who knew him. Jacob's journey was one of extraordinary strength and perseverance. Following a life-altering accident that resulted in significant physical challenges, he surpassed medical expectations with remarkable resilience and determination, living his life with courage, humor, and boundless love.
A loving son, brother and uncle to his nieces and nephews; he shared a connection with them that words can hardly describe. A devoted "momma's boy," Jake shared an unbreakable bond with his mother, Francis, his love for her was evident in everything he did. As a child, he enjoyed riding horses, fishing, and biking. As an adult, he enjoyed going on family trips and watching superhero movies. Jake was the life of the party, with a funny sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and a love for music and dancing. He playfully challenged everyone with his " arm of steel". He was cherished and loved deeply by his family and community. Jake was the "coolest kid on the block."
Jacob's generosity knew no bounds, and even in passing, he continued to give. Through Life Share Organ Donation, he gifted the ultimate gift to others, ensuring that his spirit would live on through those he helped. His legacy is one of kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
Jake is preceded in death by his mother, Francis Nanez; stepfather, Tom Yarbrough; brother, Mathew Nanez; sister, Heather Nanez; nephew, EJ Martinez; aunt, Patricia Contreras; two uncles, Ricky Contreras and Junior Lanham; and cousin, Jimmy Lanham.
He is survived by his father, Jessie Nanez of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; two sisters and brother-in-law, Selena and Edward Martinez of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Jessica Nanez of Idabel, Oklahoma; his grandmother, Patsy Lanham; five nephews, Nicholas Martinez, Jacob Martinez, Caleb Sanchez, Jacolbi Vallejo and Matthew Nanez; four nieces, Kelsey Franklin, Destiny Falling, Skylar and Jada Vallejo and a host of family and friends.
