Jacqueline L. "Jackie" Koressel, 90, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the Evansville Protestant Home. She was born July 4, 1932 in Evansville, IN to the late Russell and Edith (Barney) Niehaus.
Jackie worked for Harris Upham prior to the Evansville Waterworks Department from where she retired. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1114 Auxiliary. Jackie was a former member of St. Benedict Cathedral and current member of Annunciation Parish/Christ the King Church. She volunteered at Christ the King and Little Sisters of the Poor. Jackie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her many loving pets.
Jackie is survived by her daughters, Cinda (Jim) Hamilton and Lynn (Stan) Flittner of Evansville; brother, Jerry (Theresa) Niehaus; and grandchildren, Heath (Emily) Hamilton, Emily (Joey) Fiedler, Kathleen (Travis) Cross and Susan (Jacob) Pauli; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Leonard J. Koressel.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Avenue with Father Bernie Etienne officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
