Dr. Jacqueline S. "Jackie" Moore

Dr. Jacqueline S. Moore, age 79, of Norfolk, VA, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, surrounded by her two daughters and family friends.

Born on September 22, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia, Jacqueline was the daughter of Willie A. Skyles and Virginia L.W. Skyles Hinton. She was a retired high school principal with Norfolk Public Schools, a former professor at Saint Paul's College, and a former student teacher supervisor with Longwood University. Jacqueline was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1964. She earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree from Norfolk State University. She continued her education to earn doctorates in Educational Leadership and Theology. Dr. Moore lived a life marked by education, spirituality, grace, and resiliency.

Jacqueline, best known as Jackie to her friends and loved ones, devoted her life to learning, teaching, inspiring, and mentoring others. Jackie was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She will be remembered for her beauty, smile, humor, love of shoes, class, eloquence, tenacity, and accomplishments. Her passion for learning, teaching, advising, and her quick wit will be missed by all who had the "Jackie" experience.

Jackie had a deep love for reading, traveling, music, and cherished time spent with her family, The Something Different Group, Savvy Seniors, and her Afghan hound, Coco.

Jacqueline is survived by her daughters, Carol J. Holmes (Gregory) and Nicole Moore Bailey (Calvin); her two grandchildren, Justin Scott (Fetchina) and Morgan Holmes; and her great-granddaughter, Cléo Héliöse Scott. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Emma Lee Simpson; great aunt, Grace Kenney; and her aunt, Lelia V.W. Powell.

Her memory will forever remain a blessing in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her.
