And I heard a voice from Heaven saying, unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; Yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. – Revelation 14:13
Jake Bryant, Jr. (nicknamed "Pepperhead") was born December 13, 1946 to the late Jake, Sr. and Janie Mae Bryant. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Cecila Braxton and his seven siblings. After battling several illnesses throughout his years, he entered into eternal rest on December 20, 2024.
Jake Jr. grew up in Onslow County where he attended public schools and graduated from Jacksonville High School where he played football. After graduating from Jacksonville High School, he was drafted into the US Army where he served and departed with an Honorable Discharge.
Upon his discharge from the Army, Jake Jr. moved to Washington, DC where he was employed with Curtis Brothers Family Hauling Company and after a few years he went to work for National Capital Housing Authority. While employed at the Housing Authority, Jake Jr. met Sheila Harrison in 1980 and in 1983 they were united in Holy Matrimony. From their union, two daughters were born. Jake Jr. was very big on family and was a well-respected, strong, loving, and caring father, brother, uncle and friend. He loved football and baseball and was a die-hard Redskins fan. He also loved different genres of music such as gospel and oldies but goodies.
He leaves to cherish three daughters, Lisa Kelley (Robert) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Ra-Kemie and RaShauna Bryant of Washington, DC; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Ann Linen, Geraldine Bryant, and Linda Washington; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
