James “Lightning” Floyd Birchmore, age 79, of Clinton, SC, widower of Robbie A. Birchmore, passed away, Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at his home.
Born January 27, 1945 in Lexington, SC, he was a son of the late Charlie Edward and Clara Mae Miller Birchmore. James proudly served his country in the US Army and was a weaver in the textiles industry. He was a gentle giant, a man of faith who cherished his family and found joy in helping others.
He is survived by his son, Gary Birchmore; his sisters, Pearl Fallow, Edna Barker; his close friends, James and Donnis Quinn, and Tim Douglas; and his furry friend, Joe.
In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Claude Birchmore, Carl Birchmore and Frank Birchmore; and his sisters, Beth Gantt, Louise Romines, and Ruby Bond.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton with Pastor James Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
